Cheesy Garlic Cauliflower Bread Sticks – Redux

Phenomenal!  Just Phenomenal!

So I have been tooling around from time to time on Pinterest and I found a picture that made me pin it on my board about low carb food.  I stole this post from the blog “Mom, What’s for Dinner” (which apparently Christi, the author there borrowed from a completely DIFFERENT blog called “Eat Drink Smile” – Let’s just say, this recipe’s been around around the block a little bit.. 😉 ) but, of course, I have to tweak these things to my liking and see how I can improve upon them.

I won’t get into the super details but I like food, I like GOOD food and I get sick of eating Chicken breast or Chicken this or chicken that or healthy this or that all the time, which makes eating good food tough for me.  Maybe I’ll write a life story for you someday about how fantastic international food was ingrained in my head from travelling the world during childhood.

However let’s get to the point.  This is like cheezy bread that you would get from your favorite pizza joint.  Maybe better.  Of course I have to make this again.  The first time I think I made it pretty good, but I think next time I will have to tweak the recipe just a bit, which is my wont, adding a little bit more time on the timer for the original baking of the crust, maybe like 17-20 minutes, and not putting so much butter on it, maybe just a teaspoon instead of 2 tablespoons.  And finally for the kicker, this needs HAM.

How in the hell can you make this recipe without Ham and Cheese?  😉

Oh and one thing that may make a bit of a difference is, this time I used all Motz for the crust recipe, since I forgot to get parm.  So I will have to try it with half parm like I’m supposed to next time.  Perhaps that will firm up the crust a little more.  If not, Then I’ll just up the time a few minutes.  Stay tuned to the comments section.  I will do a little update there on my next creation of this creation.

But I will tell you this.  I just finished the first go at this and it is completely gone.  It is, apparently, healthy.

Healthy how:

  • Low Carb
  • Gluten Free
  • Grain Free
  • Has Veggies – as a matter of fact the crust is made pretty much half from veggies.

Again, I love food and after eating this I totally feel guilty.  I suppose I was suppose to share it or save some for tomorrow but no such luck.  It is gone.  Bye Bye!  It’s THAT good.  I need to find me more recipes like this for those days where my body is like, “Hey, can we go eat shitty food today!?”

So enough of my babbling.  Here we go with:

Cheesy Garlic Cauliflower Bread Sticks – Reblog

A few days back I made pizza from Cauliflower and it turned out awesome. So I started thinking… what about garlic cheese bread? Oh yeah… it turned out even more awesome. This recipe is going to make you happy if you are grain free or Celiac. I wish I would have known about this recipe back in the days I was trying the Atkins diet! Super Yummy! 

Gluten Free, Grain Free Cheesy Garlic Cauliflower Bread Sticks 
Adapted from Eat. Drink. Smile.
1 cup cooked, riced cauliflower
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 egg, beaten
1 tsp dried oregano
1/2 tsp crushed garlic
1/2 tsp garlic salt
For Topping:
2 tablespoons softened salted butter
2 cloves garlic, finely minced
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/4 cup grated mozzarella cheese
*Optional Marinara sauce for dipping

Save Now

Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Chop the cauliflower florets into chunks and steam them in a steamer or on the stove until slightly soft for 15 minutes. Place in a ricer or grate.
One large head should produce approximately 3 cups of riced cauliflower. The remainder can be used to make additional pizza crusts immediately, or can be stored in the refrigerator for up to one week.
To Make the Bread:
Prepare your baking stone or sheet by spreading a small amount of olive oil on it and top with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, stir together 1 cup cauliflower, egg, Parmesan and Mozzarella. Add oregano, crushed garlic and garlic salt, stir.
Transfer to the baking stone or sheet, and using your hands, pat out into a large rectangle.
Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes.
Remove from oven.
Mix 2 TBSP butter and garlic in a small bowl and.spread the butter and garlic mixture over baked cauliflower bread and top with Parmesan and Mozzarella cheeses.
Place back in the 450 degree oven until all cheese is melted.

Slice and Serve!

Already this has been posted all over, but it was such a good article I decided to do a quick share for those who haven’t.  Plus, this is totally the kind of thing I try to live my life by.  thinking about stuff like this, is the reason I started my whole Dream Path series of posts.  I don’t want to be the guy on my deathbed, one day, filled with regrets.  I want to at least know I tried…

Anyway, without further ado…

REGRETS OF THE DYING by Bonnie Ware

For many years I worked in palliative care. My patients were those who had gone home to die. Some incredibly special times were shared. I was with them for the last three to twelve weeks of their lives.

People grow a lot when they are faced with their own mortality. I learnt never to underestimate someone’s capacity for growth. Some changes were phenomenal. Each experienced a variety of emotions, as expected, denial, fear, anger, remorse, more denial and eventually acceptance. Every single patient found their peace before they departed though, every one of them.

When questioned about any regrets they had or anything they would do differently, common themes surfaced again and again. Here are the most common five:

1. I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.

This was the most common regret of all. When people realise that their life is almost over and look back clearly on it, it is easy to see how many dreams have gone unfulfilled. Most people had not honoured even a half of their dreams and had to die knowing that it was due to choices they had made, or not made.

It is very important to try and honour at least some of your dreams along the way. From the moment that you lose your health, it is too late. Health brings a freedom very few realise, until they no longer have it.

2. I wish I didn’t work so hard.

This came from every male patient that I nursed. They missed their children’s youth and their partner’s companionship. Women also spoke of this regret. But as most were from an older generation, many of the female patients had not been breadwinners. All of the men I nursed deeply regretted spending so much of their lives on the treadmill of a work existence.

By simplifying your lifestyle and making conscious choices along the way, it is possible to not need the income that you think you do. And by creating more space in your life, you become happier and more open to new opportunities, ones more suited to your new lifestyle.

3. I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.

Many people suppressed their feelings in order to keep peace with others. As a result, they settled for a mediocre existence and never became who they were truly capable of becoming. Many developed illnesses relating to the bitterness and resentment they carried as a result.

We cannot control the reactions of others. However, although people may initially react when you change the way you are by speaking honestly, in the end it raises the relationship to a whole new and healthier level. Either that or it releases the unhealthy relationship from your life. Either way, you win.

4. I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.

Often they would not truly realise the full benefits of old friends until their dying weeks and it was not always possible to track them down. Many had become so caught up in their own lives that they had let golden friendships slip by over the years. There were many deep regrets about not giving friendships the time and effort that they deserved. Everyone misses their friends when they are dying.

It is common for anyone in a busy lifestyle to let friendships slip. But when you are faced with your approaching death, the physical details of life fall away. People do want to get their financial affairs in order if possible. But it is not money or status that holds the true importance for them. They want to get things in order more for the benefit of those they love. Usually though, they are too ill and weary to ever manage this task. It is all comes down to love and relationships in the end. That is all that remains in the final weeks, love and relationships.

5. I wish that I had let myself be happier.

This is a surprisingly common one. Many did not realise until the end that happiness is a choice. They had stayed stuck in old patterns and habits. The so-called ‘comfort’ of familiarity overflowed into their emotions, as well as their physical lives. Fear of change had them pretending to others, and to their selves, that they were content. When deep within, they longed to laugh properly and have silliness in their life again.

When you are on your deathbed, what others think of you is a long way from your mind. How wonderful to be able to let go and smile again, long before you are dying.

Life is a choice. It is YOUR life. Choose consciously, choose wisely, choose honestly. Choose happiness.

Ohhhh Yeah! Blog Me Baby!

So here’s where I give some loving to those who love me first.  If you kiss me then I kiss you back.  😉

I noticed in the last month that not 1 but 2 people have reblogged my posts.  It’s funny too because sometimes I write shit and I’m thinking, “This is SHIT!  Who’s gonna actually even read this garbage?” and then someone comes along and BAM!  They not only like my post, but they like it enough to take the responsibility of posting it on their own blog… 😉

That being said, this post is not about me, (well not directly anyway.) this is about those brave souls who decided to spread me some love, opening up their blog to me so that I could penetrate deep into their reader’s thoughts with my sometimes long and stiff writing, despite how hard I may be on it from time to time.  (Ok… enough…)

So first up we have sweetopiagirl from her blog Inspiredweightloss who reblogged my post Sleep Fucking Apnea.  Her blog is about empowering women to lose those extra pounds and get in shape!  That’s right!  (Yes, I am aware that women like reading my blog.  Another blogger and I talk about how many women most likely read my blog, especially the seduction stuff, though they might never admit it 😉  )  Now here is a little quote from her blog (what better words than her own to describe the awesomeness of her blog?) from the section About My Weight Loss Blog:

Next up to bat we have the Hello100blog that decided to repost my article I just wrote (needless to say it is my article that has gotten the most comments so far) What to Get Your Man for Christmas…  What Else?  Trust me when I say, ladies, that you cannot go wrong with the advice I posted in that article.  The Hello100blog seems to be a blog that reposts VERY FUCKING AMAZING blog posts from all over the web.  (I mean, my blog post made it over there so I’m just sayin.) But, you could also learn how to make Russian-style honey-based gingerbread, or read up on a Christmas Poem called Paracelso (and a whole lot more!!!)

Anyway, it was a little exciting for me to see some people breakin me off a piece…  (Of their blog, pervert!)  So I figured I’d share.

Long ago, in a time far far away, I was chilling with a chick I had a HUGE crush on.  We went to a Concert at the Shelter, which is the Basement of St. Andrew’s Hall in Downtown Detroit  By the by, this is one of my favorite concert venues EVER!  Now, I’m not sure if it was Veruca Salt or The Breeders but here was the biggest problems with me trying to seduce her; she was a lesbian.  That’s right.  She liked other women, and I just so happen to not be even remotely passable for a female.  But it was going cool, we had a little vibe going on so I wanted to make my move.

I talked to her about how her last girlfriend ended up seducing her.  (By the way, I will post on this later.  Some of the best seduction stuff you can learn is from other women.  Don’t – I repeat – Do NOT confuse that with ADVICE about how to seduce women, because that can be TERRIBLE if it comes from a woman.  We will get into that in another post…)  Anyway, I asked her what happened, I think I even asked specifically, how the first kiss took place.  She told me, “She said to me, ‘If I kiss you will you kiss me back?’ and I looked at her and said, ‘Yes.'”

Needless to say it didn’t take me long to figure out how I could seduce her.  I think it took me another three seconds to look at her in the eyes and say, “If I kiss you will you kiss me back?”  and she said, “Yes.” and It was WONDERFUL.  We then went on the People Mover which is Detroit’s sort of Pseudo train for the city and made out on it while we rode around the city, until a security guard got on and kicked us off.
